THEME: 'Peripheries – Moments from the Side'The theme for the first 20 x 20 exhibition is ‘Peripheries – Moments from the Side'; it explores the role of photography and it’s potential for capturing the everyday surrealism, humour and grace with which we live our lives in today's Ireland. 'In photography there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more than reality' All styles are welcome, from the staged to the opportune, and the carefully composed straight shot to the digitally transformed abstract. CURATORDonna Kiernan, the curator of 20 x 20 completed a BA (Hons), Photography in 2009. Since then she has worked at La Cathedral Studios & Gallery, Visual Artists Ireland and Signal Arts Centre, Bray. She is currently enrolled at MAVIS where she completing an MA in Visual Arts Practices that encompasses art-making, criticism and curating. EXHIBITION & SEMINARThe exhibition will open on Thursday 1st - March 2012 and will run until Friday 30th March 2012. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONSInspirational Arts is now accepting submissions of original photographic work from full time or part time students at any college in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Submissions should be made by completing an on-line form here: Each student is limited to one submission of a single image for which there is a fee of €10. Each image submitted will be printed on a fine art photographic paper; when the selection is complete the print will be returned to the student. Note 1: Deadline for submissions is Friday 27 January, 2012. Note 2: The name of the file you submit should include your name followed by the title of the image. Files should be square format; rectangular images will NOT be considered. FILE SPECIFICATIONFile specification can have a significant bearing on print quality. The following specification is optimal for print quality: PAPERSInspirational Arts prints onto a wide range of quality papers, primarily from Hahnemühle in Germany. On request, we also print on fine art and photographic papers from France and from Japan. In total we have over 40 papers to choose from – the widest range in Ireland.
