'Rince na h'Éireann' by Liza Cauldwell
Liza Cauldwell, an Irish artist working in photography, has produced a captivaing series of portraits called 'Rince na h'Éireann'. This is a set of portraits of teenage girls from the Cora Cadwell School of Irish Dancing in Dublin. They were photographed in their everyday clothes and in the costumes they wear at feiseanna. What Cauldwell seems to have captured in these portraits is a reflection of the dramatic changes that occured in Ireland through the lifetimes of these teenagers... from a traditional culture to a dramatically different post-riverdance one. Rince na h'Éireann will be exhibited at the Inspirational Arts Gallery from 5th to 18th July as part of the PhotoIreland Festival 2010. |
